Dina
Meyer Returns To TV With Point Pleasant
Fantastic news!
The
FOX midseason TV drama Point Pleasant has added Dina Meyer
(Barbara) to its cast.
Dina
will play Amber, who is "a hot single mom who likes to stir
up trouble in the beachside community" in this "soap opera
with an otherworldly twist." The series will also star Grant
Show (Melrose Place). Is it the year for former beautiful
women from superhero shows teaming up with Melrose veterans
or what?
Buffy's
Marti Noxon is among one of the show's writers. We'll keep you updated
when we hear of a premiere date.

(Wade), will be returning to the WB schedule at some point in midseason.
Also

Ashley
Scott Replaced On Joey
The Joey Tribbiani spinoff of Friends,
which will be on Thursdays at 8PM on NBC this Fall, is saying goodbye
to one of the Birds of Prey.
Ashley
Scott (Helena) filmed a role as a neighbor character on the
show's pilot; the role was to have been recurring. You can see publicity
shots by
clicking here. Unfortunately, NBC
and the producers of Joey have chosen not to go with Ashley
after all.
We
are obviously disappointed in NBC's decision, and wish Ashley the
best.

Kristoffer Polaha, a guest star from the BOP episode "Split"

And
on the subject of summer series... Don't forget that Tuesdays at

in Summerland, which has been off to a pretty good start

Loughlin's Summerland Arrives On The WB Schedule
The new WB drama series Summerland,
which features Lori Loughlin (Black Canary) and Shawn
Christian (Wade) among its cast, will be premiering on Tuesday,
June 1, on the WB.
The
WB describes the series this way: "SUMMERLAND stars Loughlin
as Ava Gregory, an ambitious woman with a close-knit circle of friends,
a great house in a beautiful California beach town and a growing
career as a fashion designer. The last thing on Ava's mind was settling
down and starting a family. That all changed the day Ava's sister
and brother-in-law were killed in an accident, leaving Ava to raise
their three children."
If
ratings for the summer run are good, Summerland could continue
past the summer. (Then would it be Winterland? kidding)

Wizard
Announcement Of Birds DVD A Hoax
Issue #151 of Wizard magazine, which
went on sale on March 31, had Birds of Prey: The Complete First
Series on their calendar as being released on April 1st, 2004.
What
was not mentioned was that it was one of several April Fool's gags
in the issue. Like, say, the Geoff Johns/Phil Jiminez Captain Carrot
comic book announcement, the announcement of a Birds DVD
coming out on April 1 is about as real as Dr. Quinzel's caring nature.
There
are currently no plans for a DVD release of Birds of Prey,
although we think such a thing would sell very well. Don't anyone
get upset with Wizard - it was merely a joke, and
sometimes jokes are taken a little too seriously in fandom.
We'll
let you know if the situation ever changes.

Ashley
Scott: Walking Tall
The website for the upcoming movie "Walking
Tall," starring the Rock and featuring Ashley Scott (Helena),

The site is still apparently a work in progress.
B.J.
tells us that WWE Confidential has done a featurette about
the movie which may have already aired in some places, and Ashley
Scott does appear, talking about her character of "Deni,"
who was the ex-girlfriend of the character played by the Rock. The
show airs on Spike TV on Saturday nights; however, we cannot guarantee
that they will be re-airing the "Walking Tall" segment.
Thanks

The
Black Canary Speaks!
Gotham Clock Tower was able to catch up with
former "Black Canary" Lori Loughlin at the TCA
Winter 2004 Press Tour in Los Angeles, CA in January of this year.
Lori was there to promote her new series Summerland, which
premieres in June.
We
asked if she was hoping to return as the Black Canary, who seemingly
died in "Sins of the Mother." Here's what she had to say:
"I
was. I was really bummed when the show got cancelled. I really was,
because you thought she did but you were not sure, and they were
planning on bringing me back. I was really bummed when it got cancelled."
When
we asked if she was hoping to wear the costume, she said "Yes.
I really wanted to do that," and although she hadn't read the
comics before getting the part, she did look into it after taking
the role.
Loughlin's
upcoming series Summerland also stars Shawn Christian, who
is known to BOP fans as "Wade," Barbara's doomed
boyfriend, on Birds. "It's truly a different format
than Birds of Prey, but I'd say check it out. I think it's
got something for everybody," she tells us.

Actor
Updates!
Thanks to the several people who have let
us know some updates on some of the BOP cast...
-
NEW! Dina Meyer (Oracle) will
appear in a horror film called "Storyteller" in 2004.
It also stars "Young Indy" Sean Patrick Flanery and "the
kid from Kate & Allie" Frederick Koehler. Dina also
recently had a recurring role on NBC's Miss Match alongside
former Batgirl Alicia Silverstone, though we don't know if her role
will be continuing. (Dina, are you still reading? Let us know...)
- NEW! Ashley Scott (Huntress)
plays "Deni" in The Rock's new film, "Walking Tall."
It is due to be released in theaters in April 2004. Ashley will
also be in a movie called "Into The Blue" which also stars
Paul Walker and Ashley's Dark Angel co-star Jessica Alba.
She was rumored to be up for Wonder Woman, but nothing more has
been heard about that in a while.
- NEW! Rachel Skarsten (Dinah)
appeared on the December 6 episode of 1-800-MISSING. We're
assuming Rachel is still involved with POV
Sports.
-
NEW! Ian Abercrombie (Alfred)
provides the "voice of Brainiac" for the upcoming "Scooby
Doo" sequel. We're assuming that's not the Brainiac.
You may have seen him on an episode of FX's Nip/Tuck recently.
- Shemar Moore (Reese) will star in a CBS telepic called
"Irreversible Errors," which will air at some point in
2004. You can also see him in a recent Old Navy commercial.
- Finally, Shawn Christian (Wade) and Lori Loughlin
(the Black Canary) will be starring together in a WB series called
Summerland which will premiere during the summer of 2004.
The WB is using the strategy FOX used with The O.C. to introduce
the show in mid-year. More details about that one when and if they
become available.

Hi Lee, who will be playing "Lady Shiva" in the

"What
a wonderful cast and crew!!! It turns out that the DP and I had
worked together on Mortal Kombat and it's been nice to work with
an old friend. The director has such vision with this episode
and our scenes have been going very smoothly. Ashley Scott, who
plays Huntress/Helena, is such a cutie pie!!! She is from South
Carolina and has that wonderful southern warmth...and soooooo
funny! She's been a joy to work with and I look forward to a long
friendship with her. As for the rest of the family, and they are
a family, what a terrific group of people. They have been so welcoming
to me, fun to hang out with, and I know that I will keep in touch
with many of them after I've long gone from working on the show.
The hours are long (sometimes 16 hours) and the nights cold (we
shoot a lot at night outdoors), but I wouldn't trade one moment
of the experience."
